Southern rapper T.I.'s wife, Tiny, has reportedly been charged for her role in their Los Angeles arrest earlier this month for drug possession.
Tiny will be arraigned sometime next week by Los Angeles prosecutors.
Prosecutors charged Tameka “Tiny” Cottle with possession of ecstasy on Friday and she is due in court for an arraignment on Nov. 1 in Beverly Hills. The 35-year-old was arrested along with her husband on Sept. 1 during a traffic stop. Prosecutors on Monday declined to charge T.I., citing a federal judge’s decision to send him to federal prison for 11 months for violating his probation on weapons charges and the small amount of drugs found on him. A charge evaluation sheet said deputies found four ecstasy pills on the Grammy Award winner. (Washington Post)
Despite the crime, Tiny will likely not face time behind bars.
Jane Robison, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, tells E! News that the count is a misdemeanor and Cottle is unlikely to do any jail time. “Nobody ever goes to jail here. They usually go to rehab,” said Robison, citing a California law that sends first-time offenders to drug diversion. (E! Online)
Tiny’s husband will begin his sentence for violating his probation no later than November 1st.
T.I. will be returning to the exact same federal Arkansas jail next week that he cohabitated as part of his sentence for his 2008 gun conviction. According to the Associated Press, the King of the South will be entering Forrest City’s low-security premises on November 1, where he will begin an 11-month sentence for violating his federal probation. Southern rapper David Banner recently shared his input on T.I.’s legal problems.
“My biggest concern is not really so much about Tip. It’s about what his kids are going through. The one thing I know about Tip is that he is strong. When I first met him he was the shortest dude in the room [laughs]. But he was the toughest dude. He has always been grown. I just want his kids to be alright because no one ever talks about that aspect. That’s where my heart is.” (VIBE)
