Grammy-winning rapper T.I. looks to be working crafting another potentially platinum-selling solo album even that could do even bigger numbers than his 2008 release Paper Trail, according to producer Drumma Boy.
Drumma says that Tip has been in grind mode since since his official release from a halfway house last month.
The beatsmith behind hits like Young Jeezy’s “Lose My Mind,” Waka Flocka‘s “No Hands” and DJ Drama‘s “Oh My” told XXLMag.com that he initially played T.I. twelve beats, of which the Bankhead native chose eight. Then, earlier this week, he sent over another 15, in anticipation of a meeting T.I. was having with his label. As for where the beats will end up, Drumma says a mixtape may be on the way. “I think he should [do a mixtape],” says Drumma. “He’s always a fan of giving the fans music and just feeding the streets.” And when the album comes, he has high hopes for that. “It’s gonna be a phenomenal project,” he promises. “It’s probably gonna be a bigger album than Paper Trail.” (XXL Mag)
In August, producer Mars also said he was focused on working alongside T.I.
“[T.I.] will always be my brother, he’ll always be a friend and production partner. I’ll always be working with Tip. He’s been sitting [in jail] for a year. So I’ve been thinking about my brother. I have all different types of directions, all types of different stuff,” Mars explained in an interview. “We’re working on Tip.” (XXL Mag)
The “King of the South” was released from a halfway house last week.
Grammy Award-winning rapper T.I. was released early on Thursday from the federal halfway house in Atlanta where he finished up an 11-month sentence on weapons possession and drug charges, a prison official said. The 31-year-old Atlanta entertainer, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was assigned to the halfway house for the last month of his sentence after being released August 31 from a federal prison in Arkansas. Prior to his release, Grand Hustle’s DJ Drama discussed Tip’s return to studio grinding.
“I mean, it’s really just back to work,” Drama told SOHH about having Tip back in the studio. “You know what I’m saying? Like, that’s what we do. So the homie had to take another little hiatus, but you know what I mean, we’re past that and getting right to it. It’s not like we’re sitting down and playing happy camper. This is what we do and it’s time to get back to work, making music for the people and giving them what they want to hear. My goal was to keep it hot while he was gone and now that he’s here, we’ve got bigger and better things to accomplish.” (SOHH)
While Paper Trail went double platinum following its September 30th, 2008 release, T.I’s No Mercy 2010 release has sold just over 500,000 to date.
