Grammy-winning rapper T.I.‘s recent headline-generating neighborhood arrest has come back. New reports claim the “King of the South” faces multiple charges for the May incident.
Despite not facing any jail time, Tip must now deal with three charges stemming from the reported drunkenness altercation.
Henry County, Georgia, prosecutors have charged the rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, with three misdemeanors — simple assault, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct — after an altercation with his gated community’s security guard, TMZ reported. T.I.’s attorney, Steve Sadow, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the security guard, named Euwan James, was fired following the altercation. Sadow called the charges “baseless, ill-founded and unjustified.” (Page Six)
Back in May, Tip addressed his big arrest and provided context on the incident.
He says it was a “very heated debate,” but nothing ever became physical. He says the guard eventually called the police, but says the law enforcement near his home are “white cops in a very white area,” and he was promptly arrested. The artist tells us the security guard involved in the argument is black, which added to the frustration of the situation. He says he gave the guard “every opportunity” to apologize for sleeping, but the guy refused. (The Blast)
The rap heayvweight’s lawyer has since issued a statement on what went down.
Earlier the same day, details immediately emerged on Tip’s arrest.
The rapper TI has been arrested on disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and simple assault charges as he tried to enter his gated community outside Atlanta, police have said. He was arrested around 4.30am after he got into an argument with a security guard, according to Henry County Police. Local media reports say the Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Clifford Harris, lost his key and the guard wouldn’t let him into the community. (Independent)
