While Tip applauded Jeezy’s new executive role, the fellow Atlanta rapper revealed he may have played a part in helping secure the spot.

“I think that’s phenomenal for Young and I’ve known about it for quite some time now. He came and spoke to me and asked me how I felt about it as far as whether or not it was a good fit for him,” Tip revealed in an interview. “And [Atlantic] came and asked me how I felt about it whether I felt that he was a good fit for the position and what not and I think it’s phenomenal.” (“The Morning Riot”)

The “King of the South” also contemplated whether or not he could see himself in the executive seat.

“Now as far as me, I don’t know if I could necessarily do it,” Tip added. “When I’m not working on my projects or focusing on my label’s projects I’mma go do me some movies or I’mma be bouncing back and forth doing other things. So I just don’t know how much undivided attention I could dedicate to a position like that.” (“The Morning Riot”)

Last week, reports of Jeezy’s new position scattered the Internet.

Taking to his Twitter page today (Aug. 9), Jeezy acknowledged his new position — in a message that was also retweeted by Atlantic — by saying “From the streets to the Boardroom. SVP of A&R at Atlantic Records I am. Let’s Get it!” The news was reportedly broken by DJ Greg Street of V103 out of Atlanta, and was confirmed by Jeezy’s production coordinator DJ Folk last night. Earlier this year, T.I. revealed plans to possibly record a joint album alongside the “Snowman.”

“Jeezy and I, we have discussed doing a collaborative album. Right now, we’re both focused on putting Atlanta back on top where we once knew it to be,” T.I. explained. “In my absence, I’ve seen the city take a backseat, if you will, to other areas and other regions. I’m not trying to sleight nobody’s efforts or nobody’s contributions to the game, but I know what my city represents and I know what my city’s capable of. And if I feel like we’re not living up to our full potential, I’m going to gather all the cats who I know who supposed to ride for the town like I ride and we gon’ get it back right. So that’s what we focused on right now. After we do that, then we can focus on anything else. But first is first.” (Los Angeles Leakers)
