During an interview with New York’s Power 105.1 radio host DJ Clue, Drama also said Tip has a new single getting ready to drop.

“Tip just came home. I was in the studio with him,” Drama said. “He’s actually about to drop a new song next week.” He explained that although Tip is in a halfway home, he’s still able to produce music. “He’s in a halfway house but when you’re in a halfway house you can still get to work. So he’s been in the studio during work time and he’s banging out. Actually [his time in the halfway house] ends next week. So he’ll be in the streets by the B.E.T. Hip Hop Awards.” (Power 105.1)

Last week, the “King of the South” was released from an Atlanta prison to complete the remainder of his sentence.

Attorney Steven Sadow told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., was released between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. and will remain at the Dismas Charities Atlanta halfway house until he is freed from federal custody Sept. 29. Sadow said after he is freed, the rapper will have one year of supervised release. He also faces travel restrictions. (Access Atlanta)

Prior to his release, Maybach Music Group’s Meek Mill promised to put Tip on his “I’ma Boss” remix.

“If I hold the ‘I’ma Boss’ remix long enough I might throw Tip on that, have him get out to the hottest song of the year,” Meek said in an interview. “He ain’t have no problem looking out for me and I don’t have no problem doing it for him.” In 2008, rumors sprung up that T.I. had signed Meek to his label Grand Hustle, but the co-sign never amounted to an ink stain. Although it’s unclear as to why the deal never materialized, Meek says he still salutes theAtlanta giant. “I talked to Tip even when I was with Maybach, he already know my mind frame because me and Tip ended up becoming good friends later on down the line just hanging out with each other.” (VIBE)

Despite the rapper’s time behind bars, his Akoo clothing company has reportedly thrived.

Prison doesn’t totally suck … at least for T.I. … because TMZ has learned, sales for the rapper’s clothing line skyrocketed while he was in the pokey. A rep for AKOO clothing tells TMZ, the company’s sales soared by 25% in the last year … while the rapper served time for drug possession. The company rep said they hadn’t seen such a surge in popularity since T.I.’s MTV reality show “Road to Redemption” premiered in 2009. The rep says they’re preparing for another spike in sales — when T.I. is set free next week after completing his drug sentence. (TMZ)
