The late West Coast rapper released his classic album after spending time in prison.

T.I. is setting the bar high for his post-prison album, King Uncaged, comparing it to Tupac’s 1996 classic All Eyez on Me, which was released months after ‘Pac got out of prison. “This is the most significant return from incarceration that the game has had since then,” T.I. says. “Just given the enormous success of that project, everyone’s expecting the same results. I just want to meet the expectations, if not surpass them.” (Rolling Stone)

The rapper revealed the name of his summer album on yesterday.

T.I. is breaking free with his seventh studio album. The Atlanta rapper has announced a title for his next release. The follow-up to 2008’s double-platinum Paper Trail will go by the name of King Uncaged, it was revealed today via Tip’s website TrapMuzik.com. He has been recording with Jim Jonsin, B.o.B, Danja and The Runners for the August 24 release. A buzz single “I’m Back” is currently No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100. (Rap-Up)

He did not disclose the title of the project when asked about it last month.

“I really do appreciate the support and how hard y’all was going in during the brief hiatus,” T.I. said during a conference all. “The support don’t go unnoticed and I don’t take it lightly. This marks a special day for us, because we putting out the first song off the album, not an official first single, just something to keep the streets warm. It’s properly entitled ‘I’m Back.’ It’s a lot of things that needed to be spoken on, you know. In my absence, it was a lot of things that went down, a lot of matters that needed to be addressed and this was the greatest platform for me to do it…Album drops August 24th, title? I got one but I ain’t gonna say it yet. It was the first song I did when I came home. You get me fresh out the box going in. I’m sure you guys will enjoy it…Middle of April, beginning of May. Y’all gonna start seeing me. Y’all already know, once again it’s on. Like we always do this time.” (Rap Radar)

T.I. recently promised “aggressive” content would be featured on his upcoming solo album.

“I’m happy to be home,” T.I. said in a video. “I learned a lot, grew a lot and now I think it’s time to put all that to good use. I didn’t write too much, people might thought I was doing a lot of writing but I didn’t write that much, you know. I didn’t get a lot of time to. It was a lot of activity around me so I wasn’t really motivated to create. I just want to continue to maintain the level of success I’ve been fortunate to do over and over again over the years. Well, this album is different in many ways. I think that Paper Trail was a lot more about thoughts and this is more about feelings. And this is significantly more aggressive, at this point in the production. Who knows, I could do ten love songs tomorrow and change the direction but as of right now, it’s going hard. It’s going hard like classic T.I.” (Trap Muzik)
