Top Dawg Entertainment’s SZA is keeping the attention on her CTRL album as 2017 continues to wrap up. The crooner has finally released the visual to her hit “The Weekend” single.
Heading into the weekend, SZA released her Solange-directed video.
SZA has shared a new CTRL visual directed by Solange. Watch “The Weekend” below. In the clip, SZA dances on a balcony, in a parking garage, as well as other empty spaces. Earlier this year, Solange shared a video fangirling out to SZA’s song “Love Galore.” SZA is up for Best New Artist, Best R&B Performance, and more at the 2018 Grammys. (Pitchfork)
In October, SZA talked about avoiding getting labeled and taking a universal approach to music-making.
“People grapple with labeling me as hip-hop, R&B or pop, and it’s interesting to me. I’m just making music,” she said. “I listen to Stevie Nicks. I love classical jazz. I love folk. I love rap. I love Modest Mouse. I’m making an album with Tame Impala and Mark Ronson. When you try to label it, you remove the option for it to be limitless. It diminishes the music.” (Los Angeles Times)
