Grammy-winning producer Swizz Beatz's artwork is paying off these days as the Magna Carta Holy Grail contributer has revealed Jay-Z is his latest customer.
According to Swizzy, Young Hov dug into his pocket and copped a Holy Grail-themed painting.
Swizz Beatz’ art will soon be hanging from the walls of Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s house. The Roc Nation mogul has purchased a Mercedes-Benz hood that Swizz adorned with Jean-Michel Basquiat‘s face. He dubbed the piece “Holy Grail” and dedicated it to Hov. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to art schools. “Look who purchased my Basquiat on Benz Hood 2day,” tweeted Swizz. “what a honor and Blessing I’m so grateful for the support! July 4 its Showtime ART LIFE!!! I will use proceeds to continue helping kids in need.” The piece is 1/50 car hoods he plans to create for his art exhibit. The super-producer also designed a Porsche hood with Muhammad Ali’s face, which fetched $24,000 at auction. (Rap-Up)
A few days ago, Swizzy said he believes Magna Carta is a direct reflection of the rap star.
“Jay is just ahead of the times. I’ve been working with Jay for 17 years now–which is crazy because I’m only 34,” Swizz explains. “This album represents Jay. It’s like… how do give somebody something authentic that they can go back pull from and give them something that’s ahead of its time? I think he summed that up very well.” (VIBE)
Beatz also addressed fans persistence on comparing Jay’s newest efforts to past albums.
He continues: [Fans] always want to go back to the classics. You always have that hunger of ‘Man, why didn’t he didn’t he just… Man, he’s supposed to…’ It’s always going to be that. For the first time in a long time I think someone solved that problem. He did that with this album.” (VIBE)
Earlier this month, the Ruff Ryders producer released a handful of tweets about the LP.
