Producer and Verzuz co-founder Swizz Beatz stood up to defend his wife, R&B icon Alicia Keys after the  rapper-turned-podcaster, Joe Budden, co-signed a tweet that suggested Keys got out-sung on her own track.

The song under discussion is the 2003 classic, “Diary” featuring R&B group Tony! Toni! Toné! and singer Jermaine Paul.

The Twitter user said

“Alicia keys really got cooked on Diary”

Which Budden then responded in agreement,

“lowkey lol”

Beatz then replied,  “king knock it all the way off, let’s not do this, I never get into your zones! Leave my wife out of everything but greatness! Please…”

The “Pump It Up” hitmaker has since deleted the tweet. However some fans who witnessed the dispute came into the defense of Joe. One user, in particular, replied:

“This is a super soft reply. Nothing disrespectful was said, it literally is a matter of opinion”

Another fan replied, “Swizz acting super light skin right now, this has been a fact since the song dropped.”

Budden Gets Love

Though Swizz had some choice words for Budden, rap vet turned podcaster Noreaga showed Joe love on his Twitter rant yesterday.

Noreaga advocated for more artists to be open to being interviewed on the Joe Budden and Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast.

Joe Budden chimed in and actually agreed with Nore on Twitter he wrote:

“Just a humble servant of Hip Hop, it only helped raise me and teach me still to this day… Nore hit a few points, a lot of ppl use it as entry way & shed it soon as they can. Culture was never vying for acceptance, it was always MAKING them accept it, sadly that line is blurred.”
