Louisiana law enforcement has nabbed a suspect in the slaying of two family members related to rap star Lil Wayne and ex-wife Toya Wright.
According to reports, New Orleans police have arrested 31-year-old Antoine Edwards for his possible involvement in the death of Wright’s two brothers.
Antoine Edwards, 31, was booked March 9 with second-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Joshua and Ryan “Rudy” Johnson, court records show. The arrest warrant affidavit sworn by NOPD homicide detective Theo Kent says multiple tipsters told investigators a man known as “Toine” or “Tweezy” was responsible for the killings. The man, in at least one instance, admitted the shooting to others, the affidavit said. (NOLA News)
Last August, Toya admitted Weezy F. Baby came to visit her following her brothers’ murders.
“It didn’t surprise me that he showed up,” Wright tells PEOPLE exclusively about her relationship with her rapper ex. “We’re still very, very close.” Wright and Lil Wayne have a 17-year-old daughter named Reginae Carter – [Lil Wayne’s] daughter needed him and he was there. He calls and checks on us all the time.” (People)
According to new reports, Wayne immediately went to see her shortly after learning about the personal loss.
We’re told Weezy was completely devastated over the death of his ex’s brothers, and wanted to get to Toya and their daughter as soon as he could to pay his respects. He’s been in NOLA since Sunday and just left Thursday. Lil Wayne was especially close to Toya’s brother, Rudy, who used to live with Wayne. The service for Toya’s brothers is Friday, but we’re told Wayne will not attend — only because he doesn’t want to turn it into a media circus. (TMZ)
The fatal shooting took place in July 2016 in Wayne’s Louisiana home state.
Police discovered the bodies of Rudy and Josh Johnson in a car in the early hours of Sunday. They were pronounced dead at the scene after each sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, and their apparent murders are now under investigation by authorities. (Xposé)
