Check out what this music veteran said about Kanye’s rant on the next page…

In an open post made on Facebook Monday (February 9), Garbage rock singer Shirley Manson went after Kanye.

“Dear Kanye West, it is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry. You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK. You make yourself look small and petty and spoilt. In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own. Grow up and stop throwing your toys around. You are making yourself look like a complete t–t. Ps. I am pretty certain Beyoncé doesn’t need you fighting any battles on her account. Seems like she’s got everything covered perfectly well on her own.” (Facebook)

Instead of taking personal offense, Beck assured fans he had no ill feelings toward Mr. West after the Grammys.

“I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right? … I thought [Beyoncé] was going to win. Come on she’s Beyoncé. … You can’t please everybody, man — I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.” (Us Magazine)

Kanye made his way to the Grammy stage when Beck won “Album of the Year” ahead of pals like Beyoncé and Sam Smith.

Beck, who also won Best Rock Album, seemed as surprised as the rest of the audience when he won the award and appeared to be looking around for help. That’s when West popped up on stage and moved toward Beck as if he was about to take the trophy. Instead, West turned away and quickly jumped down, but not before getting laughs from Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z. (Fox News)

  1. First of all he 100% wrong in that day and time there were no hip hop police and artist had the green light to express themselfs through the music…BOB Marley I shot the ******* im not even going to finish because its so serious that even typing the line can get you into trouble…

Sidenote : F all this sit quietly shit…This is whats really wrong instead of staying by his said we play ans say na he anit speaking for me…mean while Lynch wins again and again…Everybody dont listen to beyonce but everybody dont listen to beck either dont say that music is fare then only honor the music you like you meaning the grammy’s

    • where you coming from with artist can’t express themselves? hip hop police don’t stop what everybody says they’re there to watch the artist and their camps because a lot of them are street dudes so they can indite not censor foh understand wwhat your talking bout before you open your yapper homie

      • Yo if your not gonna come at me with respect miss me….Im not for this acting tough behind a keyboard nor would i ever green light the beating of someone talking tough over the internet…Than for your information sohh did a cover where a artist was under investigation because of the art work which is expression….they have tried to use rappers lyric against them on more than one time…..ti and luda had there lyrics brought back against them in court….both are actors….and their lines in movie’s never got read and court so why should their rap lines…Music is art Like poetry when a writer write not all said is 1000% real ….but when you have to watch lines because people like the gov….and protest groups are listening you cant speak freely….Hence policing…Rick ross used a rap line and lost sponsors cause protesters policed his rap lines…for your part about real thugs involved with artist no law being broken i can hang with who i choose that does not mean my lyrics are a direct reflection to my person….so for cops to listen and attempt to make a connection is policing…policing can mean more than one way….independent thought would show you that….LETS GO KANYE!!!!!!!

        • the luda example dosen’t work as to that was a civil trial. you broadening the stance of policing changes myissue with your comment in the first place it’s the way I talk obviously it’s the internet seeing as how we’ll never meet to settle up pleasse don’t be so easily offended homie.take it easy

          • they also used lines to get Draw connections to murder inc..Not saying it wasnt needed but the police studied lines of him and fifty….Point blank is its not the same level of freedom….Do you know that cops eve went as far as to make a rap label with a fake rapper as a undercover sting…..this story im speaking of can be found…Luda thing is not different he is a entertainer and they took his line and tryed to attach his persona to his actual person….its broad indeed but it just cosigns the point that there is not room to say much with rap…..Keep in mind since the start of hip hop there has always been a connection between rappers and the crime world….so while i understand why cops would go for it…its dangerous cause art allows us to express our self in any way we choose….some lyrics are written in times of anger or lost…which may have a rapper going in….but that does not mean he really wants to murder…using rap line to paint a persons true nature is unfair and does not happen in other genre’s of music…because my intentions are to be a gentleman i will accept that maybe i jumped the gun with being offended its not a history of knowing you but rather the people that come here….so with that said bless

  2. Roland Martin said it best stop lookin for them to validate you, when you dont show up to BET which nowadays im not mad at, Image, Trumpet awards etc. these artsists win those awards and the presenters end up accepting on their behalf. i would love to see Bey, Jay, 50, Rhianna, etc at the Image Awards. but then again those awards give people like Ledisi or K. Dot their time to shine, so i dont have the answers!!!

  3. haha,,if u siding w/Brandon browner dumb ass(check his track record) u got a problem regardless,,dude is a confirmed idiot,,winning a ring don’t change that,,,the grammys shoves it up black artists backsides regardless,,don’t pretend they don’t,,talking bout what other artists did,,jayz has boycotted the grammys a bunch of times along w other hip hop artists for various reasons,,this new slave is on here talking bout scrapping and a bunch of other nonsense haha,,sound like a fool for real,,maybe its just me but I didn’t even know beck had a big album this year

    • Beck is garbage and so are his videos.Bunch of corny shit disguised as being something creative and left field.

    • Michael Jackson let thriller speak for itself Koonye west is not doing anything ground breaking to constantly get on stage and disrupt someone else moment. whether they are trash or not. and then you used the new slave reference dude you are all over the place .Black men need to respect themselves and say f the grammys.

  4. What Kanye did was ok to me.There are more important things to be upset about it the world.

  5. Beck is garbage , rock music in general is nonsense. It’s mostly sad and encourages self harm, i can’t get into that shit.

  6. I hate West for doing this only because, crashing the stage, he stole that. That lane belongs to Dirt Mcgirt, Ason, Big Baby Jesus, Osirus, OBD- aka. The Old Dirty Bastard. When Odb did that, it was organic and wasn’t staged, he had real meaning in doing what he was doing whether you agree or disagree. He was representing what direction rap would go in the future when he rushed that stage, if will plant seeds in the youth or become nothing but mindless gay drivel (which we currently have now-Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, French Montana).

  7. Man who gives a shit, it’s the damn Grammy’s. If someone wins, let them get their award and keep it moving, life goes on. In the meanwhile, let’s blame everything that is bad in this world on white people, cuz black people ain’t never done harm to anyone. Hate all these lames turning every topic into a fucking race issue. Only in America. Music is universal and until we can’t look past that we will stay ignorant. No overhyped award ceremony is gonna stop you from make good music and real recognizing real.

  8. Hit Kanye with the BOOM-BAP!!! He forgot to bust his azss about them wackazss shoes though!!! When you’re really great at what you do, GREAT that is…you would NEVER have to tell anybody because they’d be too busy telling you!!! The kid is WACKED!!!
