Former Death Row Records owner Marion “Suge” Knight is hoping to avoid a life behind bars in a publicized murder case by hiring new legal muscle.

According to reports, Knight fired attorney Tom Mesereau following a disagreement this week.

Our sources say Suge and Mesereau had a bitter disagreement over confidential information. We’re told Suge claims the info made its way to authorities and he became enraged. Here’s what’s odd … the judge allowed our camera in the courtroom but then pulled the plug a minute after Suge’s case was called and then cleared the entire courtroom so no member of the media or public could hear the reason for the lawyer/client split. Last year, Mesereau said his client may have a brain tumor.

Even more serious — Mesereau says Suge suffers from numbness on one entire side of his body and doctors have told him he might have a brain tumor. As such, he wants a place that has full access to a competent medical facility. He’s currently locked up on $10 million bail. (TMZ)

Knight appeared in court last July for his fatal hit and run case and received some bad news.

A judge ruled Tuesday that Marion “Suge” Knight should stand trial on murder charges even though a key witness — one of the men he’s accused of running over — refused to identify him in court. Cle “Bone” Sloan told detectives it was Knight who ran over him and another man outside a Compton burger stand in January, killing the other man and seriously injuring Sloan. But when Sloan testified about the incident at Knight’s preliminary hearing in April, he refused to say Knight ran him over. (AP The Big Story)

Despite past issues, ex-Death Row Records artist Snoop Dogg stressed his friendship with Suge last year.

“I do that’s why I feel sorry for him because I made up with him and we got on a great page before this nonsense started happening because I play the role of being the big man. I don’t ever kick a man when he’s down and I always look forward to building a relationship with someone I had a relationship with. And I feel like a lot of times I feel like it be a misunderstanding and it be people in the entourage as opposed to the two people really hating each other. I never hated him and he never really hated me. How could you hate me when I made you $100 million and how could I hate you when you help me build a team to beat my murder case. I didn’t forget about that. It’s a give and take thing. That’s why I’ve always have a open heart for him – this was my friend before he became my enemy.” (“The Whoolywood Shuffle”)
