Former Death Row Records owner Marion “Suge” Knight is fighting for his life both literally and figuratively. Days after news went viral about Suge being hospitalized, fresh buzz claims he’s trying to snag a high-profile celebrity attorney.

According to reports, Suge has narrowed in on legal muscle Jose Baez to help him fight his case.

Sources close to the situation tell The Blast Knight’s team recently reached out to famed defense attorney Jose Baez about the possibility of defending the rap mogul. Baez most famously served as the lead attorney for the Casey Anthony murder trial, and successfully got her acquitted in 2011. Since then, Baez has become one of the elite defense litigators in the country, and also a New York Times bestselling author. (The Blast)

A few days ago, Knight’s son Suge J. Knight updated fans on his condition.

Earlier in the week, reports revealed Suge had remained hospitalized for at least two days.

Suge was moved from L.A. County jail on Tuesday, around 11 AM, and was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital. It’s unclear why Suge — who’s in jail awaiting trial for murder — had to be rushed to a hospital for treatment, but he’s had several health issues since he was arrested and locked up in 2015. In 2017, he was treated for blood clots … which have been a recurring issue for him. Suge also passed out during a court hearing. (TMZ)

Last month, a couple of former Knight attorneys pleaded their innocence after getting accused of witness tampering in his murder case.

Matthew Fletcher and Thaddeus Culpepper entered the pleas Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court to counts including conspiracy to commit bribery and conspiracy to obstruct justice. Fletcher’s attorney Mark Geragos said outside court that the men’s indictment is a “full frontal assault on those who practice criminal defense.” Knight is awaiting trial for murder and attempted murder after hitting two men with his truck outside a Compton burger stand in 2015. He has pleaded not guilty. (AP News)
