Hollywood actress Stacey Dash sent confusion to viewers at last night’s Academy Awards with a head-scratching appearance.

After an introduction from Oscars host Chris Rock, Dash referenced her now-infamous end to Black History Month motive Sunday (February 28).

Rock introduced “Clueless” actress Stacey Dash, who is also a Fox News commentator, as the “new director” of the Academy’s “minority outreach program.” “I cannot wait to help my people out,” Dash announced to a baffled audience. “Happy Black History Month!” If you were puzzled, you weren’t the only one. The line was a bit of satire playing off her widely commented-upon call earlier this year for an end to Black History Month. (NBC News)

Following her appearance, Dash penned an open blog post about the motivation.

“We need to stop complaining about white people oppressing us, we shouldn’t boycott the Oscars, and we need to support Chris Rock the host. Which brings me to the joke. When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not “black enough,” they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks – and votes – just like all my friends.” (Patheos)

Stacey also stated diversity is much more than skin color.

“Yes, I’m the actress from the South Bronx who has always dreamed of winning an Oscar. But God has a great sense of humor and this is my first encounter with one of my dreams of destiny. Bringing diversity to Hollywood… not merely because of color, but politics as well. (After all, different colors of skin is an easy kind of diversity. Ideological diversity is much harder, because it forces everyone to come face to face with actual beliefs. Hollywood needs BOTH.)” (Patheos)

Recently, hip-hop star Waka Flocka Flame reacted to Stacey’s now-infamous Black History Month comments.

“I could say Stacey Dash wrong and she right for how she said it, she couldn’t break down fully what she was trying to explain. But honestly, I always felt like that. Like, why the f*ck we got BET? BET’s for black people and MTV’s for white people? Think about it. Why the f*ck we got Black History Month only in February? How can the people that took our history give us our history for one month? Just think about it. That’s the sh*t I’d be saying though. It is what it is.” (WSHH)
