In honor of hip-hop’s 50th, popular soda brand Sprite has teamed up with hip-hop legends Nas and Rakim and rising stars Latto and GloRilla to launch a creative campaign honoring hip-hop’s past, present, and future. In addition to the campaign, Sprite is introducing a new flavor called Lymonade Legacy, along with exclusive merchandise and content.
The announcement on June 1 revealed that Nas, Rakim, “Put It On Da Floor” rapper Latto, and “Lick Or Sum” rapper GloRilla would star in fresh creative content produced by Sprite, paying homage to the rich history of hip-hop. This new campaign aims to celebrate the impact and significance of hip-hop in shaping popular culture.
The campaign features a remix of The Sugarhill Gang’s iconic “Rapper’s Delight,” the first-ever hip-hop song to reach the Billboard Top 40. The remix of “Rapper’s Delight” infuses memorable bars from the cast of old-school hip-hop artists and contemporary talents.
Sprite, known for its long-standing connection to hip-hop, recognizes the unparalleled influence of the genre on the brand’s identity. Since 1986, when rapper Kurtis Blow starred in the “Now More Than Ever” Sprite commercial, the soda brand has maintained a strong presence within the hip-hop community.
As part of the campaign, Sprite will introduce a new flavor called Lymonade Legacy, adding to its range of products. The packaging for both the original Sprite and the Lymonade Legacy will feature a fresh design commemorating 50 years of hip-hop.
