Streaming giant Spotify looks like it’s ready to rev things up in the never-ending digital wars. The popular music service may low-key have plans to start developing its own hardware.

According to a new tech report, speculation is mounting up about Spotify looking to really jump into the retail world where Apple, Google and Amazon have all capitalized off of smart speaker devices like the HomePod, Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

So, the latest evidence of Spotify’s ambitions – again, from a recruitment ad on its website – shouldn’t come as a shock. “Spotify is on it’s way creating it’s first physical products and set-up an operational organisation for manufacturing, supply chain, sales & marketing,” explains a not-quite-fully-spell-checked ad for an Operations Manager – Hardware Product on Spotify’s recruitment site. The role? “You will define and manage Distribution, Supply, Logistics, fulfillment and Customer Service for Hardware Products and work with partners to deliver the optimal Spotify experience to millions of users.” (Music Ally)

Last week, vixen Amber Rose teamed up with Spotify to curate a Valentine’s Day playlist.

As an ode to her everlasting love for rapper 21 Savage, Amber Rose has created a playlist titled “21 for 21” on Spotify. The couple, who have been dating since last summer, are very public about their unconventional relationship – from risqué Instagram posts, to literally airing their dirty laundry. This modern day mixtape includes Amber’s selection of sultry and seductive ‘90s R&B hits that happen to be perfect for the bedroom. With tracks like Jodeci’s ‘Feenin,’ Teddy Pendergrass’ ‘Turn Off the Lights’ and Pharrell’s ‘Take It Off (Dim the Lights),’ these will surely put listeners in the mood for Valentine’s Day.
