Hollywood director Spike Lee has come forward to reveal his support for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders this week.

A new one-minute Soundcloud clip of Lee vouching for Sanders has landed online.

“I know that you know the system is rigged. For too long, we’ve given our votes to corporate puppets. … 99 percent of Americans were hurt by the Great Recession of 2008, and many are still recovering. And that’s why I’m officially endorsing my brother Bernie Sanders. (Rolling Stone)

Recently, rap veteran Bun B defended his decision to publicly show support for Sanders in a new interview.

“I’m trying to let other people know from the hip-hop community that it’s OK to voice your opinion about the candidates,” Bun told The FADER in an email. “It’s important to start stating your opinion and choosing a side very early.” (The FADER)

The UGK member also spoke on the importance of people sharing their thoughts on politics.

“Right now we have so many people locked up for marijuana, even in states where it’s legal,” Bun said later. “That’s insane to me. There’s a lot that we need to start correcting. A lot of artists are afraid to voice their opinions about certain things, at the end of the day you have to decide what’s important to you.” (The FADER)
