Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy is cranking his video game consoles back. New reports claim the Southern hip-hop artist is pulling his newly launched systems from retailers.
According to reports, SB has now taken down all product pages for two of his signature gaming units.
Nintendo has always been incredibly protective of its IP, and several other game publishers would also have been affected by Soulja Boy’s products; it’s easy to imagine that at least one company would step forward and take action. In an interesting turn of events, though, a website under the name ‘SouljaGame’ now redirects visitors to Nintendo’s very own 3DS store. Over the weekend, Soujla Boy hinted at possible legal action forcing his hand in the consoles disappearing.

Despite the takedown, the Atlanta rapper is still pushing a slew of newly launched tech gadgets.
And so, the SouljaGame and its subsequent related consoles have been pulled from the website – it’s unknown if currently placed orders for any of the consoles will be fulfilled or if those who have purchased will be getting a refund. While the consoles are gone, Soulja Boy is still offering the SouljaPods, SouljaPad and SouljaWatch via his website, and as of two days ago the rapper also does still seem to be aspiring to start an esports team in the new year. Earlier this month, SB made headlines by announcing a series of signature releases.
The story began at the start of December, when the star announced the two consoles, sold through his SoljaWatch store. Keen-eyed observers who visited the retailer noticed that many of his products looked similar to the sort of IP-infringing wares you’ll find on Alibaba or Wish. SouljaGame Handheld and Console, too, were — according to Polygon — a pair of drop shipped models from Chinese manufacturer Anbernic. The Soulja Boy versions were sold for $149.99 and $99.99, but if you bought directly from Anbernic, and they’d cost you just $105.99 and $72.99. Even worse is that both units were little more than emulators that could play titles from actual name-brand consoles. (Engadget)
