[With a long-awaited "Timeless” EP nearing its release, R&B singer Coline Creuzot breaks down her new "Numb” and "Show Me” singles to SOHH readers.]
As many people know, I am a Houston girl and Happy Perez is also from Houston. He’s been my go-to producer. I’ve been working with him for years and he actually did my very first single, “Give & Take,” which was number one on radio in Houston for six weeks some years back.
I feel like we had some success there and so every other single I’m with him and trying to get it done. I’ve actually been working on this “Timeless” EP project for about two years.
“Numb” is one of my babies and actually one of the first songs I recorded on the project. It’s something that I wrote, it kind of happened organically. Happy sent me some tracks and I kind of went in and vibed out and freestyled and “Numb” was born.
I, as a writer, try to draw off of all types of experiences and things that I’ve been through in the past. I try to bring that to life and be as relatable as possible. I have girlfriends, sisters and cousins that go through things. I draw from all of that. With “Numb,” the music really moved me and it’s very moody and very deep.
I just tried to tap into all of that into a song.
“Show Me” is a co-write with Sam Hook who is really amazing. We went in and I told him I just wanted something fun and flirty, something good for the summertime and we were really able to capture that.
I’m typically a heartbreak writer and more moody but he was like, “Nah, let’s flip this and make it fun. Let’s tell these men what you want to tell them.” We had a great time going in and putting it down. There you have it.
*“Show Me,” an upbeat, playful track co-written by Sam Hook, and “Numb,” a laid-back, smooth ballad, both penned by Creuzot, are immediately available on iTunes, Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, and Google Play.
