[SOHH highlights a hot record every week and offers a behind-the-scenes look at the smash in Singled Out. After Joell Ortiz dissected his “Latino Pt. 2” banger, No I.D. protégé Snoh breaks down her Common-assisted “Bad Things” music video.]
I wrote “Bad Things” and had finished it and No I.D. was working on the beat and fixing it. At that point, I was actually in Sweden visiting family and Common was working on his album at the same time with No I.D. in the studio.
He heard the song and was like “Wow. I love this beat and what she’s saying on this song. She’s saying something.” He was like, “I love the subject” and he just jumped on the song.

Then No I.D. called me while I was in Sweden and was like, “Oh yeah, Common jumped onto your song.” I was like, “Really!?” It was a surprise. I had no idea. I love how it happened organically. I believe in features happening organically. I don’t believe in being like, “Hey, jump on this song.”
Me and Common had met and we were always very cool with each other. We get along really great and it wasn’t even a question for him. He wanted to be in the video and I appreciated that.
I feel really honored and blessed to have somebody like him featured on my songs. I’m a huge fan and I’m really blessed.
