Rap veteran Slick Rick celebrated his American citizenship in style this week by heading out to see the Golden State Warriors NBA playoffs game in California.
Rick linked up with fellow music vet Montell Jordan to watch and perform for NBA superstar Steph Curry‘s Warriors match against the Houston Rockets.
Last week, Rick celebrated becoming an American citizen after 40 years in the United States.
The British born rap legend said, “I am so proud of this moment — and so honored to finally become an American citizen.” Rick the Ruler’s had immigration issues since 1990 when he did prison time for a self-defense shooting. He was eventually pardoned, but was threatened with deportation several times. He’s been working on becoming a citizen for more than 23 years. Rick says he’ll have dual citizenship … he’s not giving up his British passport. (TMZ)
Rick also boasted about his American citizenship on Instagram.
Last year, Slick Rick teamed up with ill.i.Optics for his own sunglasses line.
