Former Bad Boy Records rapper Shyne has addressed this week’s backlash shot his way by West Coast rapper Game in light of his public dislike toward rap newcomer Kendrick Lamar‘s new studio debut.
While he would like Game to apologize, Shyne admitted he did not understand the former G-Unit member’s true gripe with him.
“Everybody’s gassing him and his album is where everybody’s gassing him where my son, my student, The Game, I threw weapons to this zombie. I gave him life. I remember when I was in Clinton and that dude] was calling me, begging me for the co-sign, begging me to get on the album,” Shyne said in an interview. “And proof. I’m not no new jack. Proof. For the last 12 years, he’s been screaming Shyne. Shyne, Shyne, Shyne. That’s my son. Literally. My son. For him to get all emotional and start crying like a chick, I don’t really get it, you dig? I don’t really get it. I said how I felt, wasn’t no disrespect. It’s trash. That’s how I felt.” (Vlad TV)
Prior to Shyne’s comments, Game publicly warned him of what could potentially go down between them.
“Whenever a shot is taken at Kendrick, I think that’s the pool I’ma dive in head-first, whether there is water there or not,” Game said in an interview. “Personally, I think Shyne should just back away and let the kid breathe and if not, I don’t know, we might find ourselves face-to-face or sh– that nobody really wants to see happen. Kendrick is non-confrontational, he’s not a thug, he’s not a gang banger, he’s just a dope, hip-hop lyricist, but he’s from the streets and he got a lot of ties out here and a lot of good hood n—as with him and I’m one of them.” (MTV)
He also got at Shyne by jumping on Twitter in defense of Lamar.
“RT @OriginalShyne: Listened to the Kendrick Lamar album during lunch and @OriginalShyne was right. TRASH! – B*tch, shut up !!!,” he tweeted late Wednesday (October 24).
“RT @OriginalShyne: @thegame Wassup son? Why u involving yourself on something don’t concern u? – If its bout KDOT.. It CONCERN ME !!!!!”
“RT @OriginalShyne: @thegame u outta pocket youngster!!! I felt gkmd album was trash, deal wit! – naw blood, YOU TRASH.. Deal wit that !!!” (Game’s Twitter)
This all started when the deported rapper got on Twitter Tuesday night (October 23) to trash Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city LP.
“Yoooo! Kendrick Lamar is talented with a lot of potential but his album is traaaaash!,” he tweeted Tuesday (October 23) night.
“The game Documentary even 50 get rich or die trying lived up to the hype and were classics. Good kid is trash!” (Shyne’s Twitter)
