Mega tennis superstar Serena Williams gave fans a memorable victory dance Saturday (August 4) morning after winning her first Olympic singles gold medal in London.
Crip walking in victory, Williams defeated Russian opponent Maria Sharapova.
Serena Williams became only the second woman to complete a career Golden Slam when she won her first Olympic singles gold medal Saturday by beating Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-1. The victory completed a remarkable run of domination by the No. 4-seeded Williams, who lost only 17 games in her six matches. She went 13-0 this summer at the All England Club, where she won her fifth Wimbledon title a month ago. The career Golden Slam was first achieved by Steffi Graf, who did it when she won at the Olympics in 1988 after sweeping all four major titles. Williams can add the gold medal to her 14 Grand Slam singles championships, the most of any active woman. (8 News Now)
Former Flipmode Squad member Rah Digga reacted to Williams’ post-win moves.
“And Serena gets the gold. Does the dance. Deuces. #nbcolympics,” she tweeted Saturday. (Rah Digga’s Twitter)
TLC’s Chilli also could not sway away from posting her reaction to the crip walk.
“Did y’all see that???? She spiked the H E double hockey sticks outta that ball! Go Serena!,” she tweeted.

“”@dashowstoppah: @officialchilli u c that crip walk??? lol” ( omg I did!! Lmbooooo)” (Chilli’s Twitter)
Last year, the tennis icon downplayed romance rumors connecting her to friend/rapper Drake.
She looked around to her supporters — her father Richard, and, elsewhere, Toronto rapper Drake. Later, she would sigh exaggeratedly when asked what the deal is between her and the 24-year-old musical polymath. “Oh, man. Really?” she said. “We’re really close friends. Can’t be too close to a friend nowadays, I guess.” (Toronto Star)
