New York radio station Hot 97’s now-iconic annual Summer Jam showcase is going to start its own series in Japan starting this year.
According to reports, Hot 97 signed a multiyear license agreement with Japan-based Avex Live Creative to have it branch out into summer concerts beginning July.
Summer Jam Tokyo will take place Friday, July 29, 2016 at Zepp Tokyo. The lineup, which will not only include some of the hottest names in hip-hop known throughout the world, but also the biggest hip-hop acts in Japan, will be announced at a later date. The OG version of HOT 97’s Summer Jam at MetLife Stadium will take place Sunday, June 5, 2016. (The STASHED)
Last June’s Summer Jam featured Maybach Music Group’s Meek Mill getting cozy with publicized hip-hop girlfriend Nicki Minaj.

Witnesses say the disturbance began around 7 p.m. due to an altercation between concertgoers. That when officials shut the gates to the show, the Hot 97 Summer Jam at the MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, causing a logjam of people at the MetLife gate, which in turn led to metal barriers being toppled and thrown. After concertgoers began throwing bottles in response, police then took up a defensive V-shaped position in front of the stadium gates as a barrage of bottles pelted the officers.
