Details of the addition and RZA’s role in the film have emerged online.

Rapper-turned-actor RZA and D.J. Cotrona, best known as one of the cast members of TV’s Detroit 1-8-7, are in negotiations to board Paramount’s new G.I. Joe movie being directed by Jon M. Chu. RZA will play a martial arts master named the Blind Master who in the past trained Joe commandoes Snake-Eyes and Jinx. (The Hollywood Reporter)

The film will also star wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Earlier this month, French actress Elodie Yung (District 13: Ultimatum) was cast as L.A.-born ninja Jinx, while Dwayne Johnson began talks to possibly join the cast as heavy machine gunner and aspiring chef Roadblock. Chu and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) have decided against using most of cast of The Rise of the Cobra, meaning there are plenty of new characters to cast for the sequel. Two more are getting drafted into the elite covert special forces unit. (Reelz Channel)

According to reports, the 2009 blockbuster film banked in over $300 million.

During the opening weekend (August 7-9), G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra opened at the top of the North American box office with an estimated $54.7 million. It earned an additional $44 million internationally during the same weekend. In the following week, the film opened in 14 more territories and continued atop the international box office with $26 million. As of November 5, 2009, the film grossed US $302,543,074 worldwide, of which US $150,201,498 was from the United States. (Wikipedia)

In addition to the film, RZA recently landed a role on Showtime hit television series, “Californication.”

The Showtime comedy has tapped Grammy winning hip-hop pioneer, Wu-Tang Clan leader and occasional actor Robert Fitzgerald Diggs (a.k.a. The RZA) to join the cast in a major recurring role. Diggs — whose acting resume includes roles in Ghost Dog, Due Date and Repo Man — will play a slightly dangerous hip-hop mogul who Hank (David Duchovny) considers writing a movie for. The tentative name of Diggs’ character is Apocalypse. (TV Line)

No further details have been revealed as of now.
