[Longtime Boot Camp Clik affiliate Ruste Juxx recently sat down with hip-hop personality and SOHH correspondent Shawn Setaro on his popular “The Cipher” podcast. Listen to the full interview and check out five gems Ruste dropped during the Q&A.]

On first meeting Sean Price:

“Rock introduced me to Sean P. He brought Sean to my block one day. He came through on the passenger’s side with his foot out the window. We clicked ever since then. He heard me rhyme, and that was it.”

On his young son’s burgeoning rap career:

“My eight year old, he’s rhyming. He’s on some conscious rap. He likes to rhyme about everything that’s going on. That’s crazy to me.”

On Sean Price’s live performances:

“Sean never had a show set up. He didn’t care about none of that. It always worked out, though. He once did a song called ‘Psycho,’ and then he was like, ‘Hold up. Stop the music. Now I’m gonna do it blindfolded.’ He did it, and they went crazy, like that did something! Only Sean would think of something like that.”

On his relationship with the BCC:

“I was always a fan of Boot Camp, before I met Sean or any of them. When I started collabing with them, it was amazing. Even when I do shows with them now, it’s still dope. I’ll be singing along with all the songs. That’s my family. They’re all my big brothers.”

On why he stopped cursing on his album V.I.C. (Victorious Impervious Champions):

“I just want to show, it don’t have to be all about profanity and shooting and killing and everything. I’m slowly transitioning, and my next album is going to be real conscious. I’m going to be talking about the times, everything we’re going through. I think that’s what I was put here to do, really.”
