Slaughterhouse’s Royce Da 5’9 needs some answers. The hip-hop veteran has come forward to question his Detroit hometown for giving rap newcomer Cardi B a major award.

Nickel Nine went to Instagram this week to single out Motown and question why his city isn’t acknowledging local music natives.

“Detroit, when are y’all gonna cut it out with the goofy sh*t? When are we gonna stop being so politically correct? This is not a politically correct business. This record industry does not care about Detroit. Where you think the no fly zone came from? Where you think Detroit vs Everybody came from? If we don’t put action behind those words, they’re just letters on a shirt. Nothing more than letters on a shirt. I love Cardi B just like everybody else but Cardi B don’t know sh*t about the Spirit of Detroit. She ain’t even receive the Spirit of New York award yet. What the f*ck are we giving her an award for the spirit of our city? I’m a Spirit of Detroit recipient – we gotta start looking out for our own artists. That’s the only way we’re going to move as a city. When are y’all gonna see that? Blessed man.”
