After being nominated to take home the BET Hip-Hop Awards' "Rookie of the Year" trophy, SOHH hit up Roscoe Dash to see how he feels about competing with Nicki Minaj and Waka Flocka Flame for the title.
Despite the competition, Dash said he felt prepared and excited to participate in the category as a nominee.
“I’ve been watching music awards shows for a long time, the BET Hip-Hop Awards, Video Music Awards, any awards really, to just kinda share that moment with the artists that I grew up listening to because that’s a really big milestone for somebody to actually be acknowledged for something you spent a lot of time on, developing,” Dash told SOHH. “So, I’m just honored to be there, really. To actually be in the building, for most of my life I’ve been at home watching them and whether I win or not, I’m in the building.” (SOHH)
Earlier this month, Waka Flocka Flame hit up SOHH to share his reaction to being included in the “Rookie of the Year” category.
“[Being nominated for] the ‘Club Banger’ was not a surprise,” Waka added referring to his ‘O Let’s Do It’ smash hit. “I knew ain’t nobody go harder than me. I’ll get arrogant about that. I’ll admit that. But for ‘Rookie of the Year?’ Man. That’s something. I think that shows me, that shows myself right there. It shows that Waka is really working. Sometimes I feel like I don’t be doing enough so that right there, I like that right there. I’ll be at BET [for the awards].” (SOHH)
Nominees were announced in early September and included newcomers like J. Cole and Chiddy Bang.
Nominations for the 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards were revealed late Tuesday and Mizay Entertainment’s (M.E.)Waka Flocka Flame, is up for honors. Waka Flocka has two nods in the following categories: Rookie of the Year and Best Club Banger for the street anthem “O Let’s Do It.” (Examiner)
Also nominated in the “Rookie of the Year” category is Nicki Minaj, who recently shared her reaction to the nods.

The BET Hip-Hop Awards 2010 will be hosted by comedian Mike Epps and takes place Tuesday, October 12th at 8 PM EST
