Roddy + 30 Rock Sued Over “The Box”

The Los Angeles rapper and Bronx producer have been hit with a lawsuit by soul singer and producer Greg Perry, who alleges that Ricch’s diamond hit “The Box” is a complete duplication of his song “Come On Down (Get Your Head Out Of The Clouds),” which he recorded in 1975, documents accessed by SOHH.

According to the expert musicologist comparative analysis, “The Box” has “clearly and convincingly” mimicked the exact elements of “Come On Down,”  documents show.

Similar Melodies in “The Box”

According to Perry’s suit, artists who have used the sample include Young Jeezy’s 2008 “Word Play” and Yo Gotti’s 2016 “Word Play.”

Moreover, “The Box” became the most profitable song in 2020, with the track racking in $6m.
