Not sure what to say… Rest Easy bro! You’re energy was bright n infectious! I appreciate your voice and your heart bro. You pulled up to my 1st appearance in Pittsburgh for my mixtape FF2 n we been cool since. We did a gang of shows together, had music together and had some great talks. I relate a lot to you because we had a similar path, repped our city’s n started coming up around the same time. Thank you for your voice and all you addressed from feeling good, love, feeling bad, mental health, anxiety, depression n just things a lot of us identify with. I’ve been off social media more because I haven’t been feeling social, but I looked and saw a DM on twitter from u last week n it’s hurting me I didn’t fucking log on and see it and hit you back! You’ll live forever, Love!

Such a genuine person. Brilliant sense of humor. A true artist. Your spirit is what impressed me the most. The energy you brought to any space you were in. Contagious. You reached out to me at times when others didn’t. You were human. And we shared the same disease. A disease that is out to kill us, and when left untreated eventually will. I’m shaken. Shaken that someone who had such a light can be taken from this world so easily. It could have been me too many times to count. On the surface people that appear to have it all, are not exempt from the gravity and cunning nature of this disease. If you’re in the midst of addiction tell someone what’s going on. Don’t be a secret. Go to a 12 step meeting. Introduce yourself and you’ll be greeted with love and understanding from people that are fighting the same battle. Surrender. There are many paths, but it’s the only thing that has worked for me. I’m scared. Scared of how real this all is. Life and death. Beyond sad. Such a beautiful soul. Sending love to family, friends and everyone whose life was better because of your presence on this earth. Rest In Peace Mac 💔

Back in 2010 a rapper I never heard of named @macmiller called my phone asking for a feature. He was super gracious on the phone so I googled him and saw that he built quite an impressive following for himself online. I agreed to do the song so we got back on the phone to bounce ideas around. Even though he was a young new cat, he was driven to capture the truest essence of hiphop. He sent me a bunch of beats that felt like classic hiphop and it was my honor and my pleasure to work with him on what became the first of a couple of songs we did together, Family First. Every time I saw Mac on the road or at a party after that it always so much love love and respect. He was pure artist. Pure ambition. Pure heart. @clockworkdj who started out touring with me ended up becoming Mac’s tour dJ. Mac turned the platform @wizkhalifa provided for him into his own, he owned it and he repped for his city of Pittsburgh in a major way. Whenever issues of racist policing or white privilege came to the forefront, Mac Miller was alway one of the select few artists, of any genre, of any race, to speak up and speak out. Beyond being a great MC, Mac Miller made it a priority to show solidarity with the marginalized and the oppressed. What a shining light. He will be missed. #RIPMacMiller

Sigh. I remember you pulled up to my studio in 2010 in an old Volvo packed to the rim. You, Treejay, and Q were on tour, just starting out. You went from that Volvo to multiple tour buses, sold out concerts, a TV show….everything man. It was amazing to watch you grow. You always treated my Jamla family like your family, and helped anytime you could. It was YOU that was the FIRST rapper to call me and say…”hey man I wanna take Rapsody on tour with me…she’s fire….” in 2011. Always smiling when I saw you, always love, always good energy, always showing respect……..Always Hip-Hop. Today is a sad day man….a very sad day. Rest Easy Mac Miller….. Gone too soon, lil bro. Love you always. #MostDope
