Both Ricky Rozay and Fresh broke the news online early Thursday (July 12) morning.

Maybach Music Group’s power circle just got a bit wider. Rick Ross has officially signed Chicago MC Rockie Fresh to MMG. Rozay made the announcement in the early a.m., via Twitter. “Everyone Welcome @rockiefresh to the@MaybachMusicGrp Family!!!!,” tweeted the “So Sophisticated” rapper along with a pic of the signing. Rockie followed up with his own message, tweeting, “Salute to @RickyRozay for seeing my vision. We ?#RichForever? ?#MMG?.” (Hip Hop Wired)

Last month, the Windy City rapper talked about working on a new mixtape.

“It’s called Electric Highway,” Rockie told MTV News exclusively, revealing the title. “I always want to do original music even if it’s a mixtape, so it’s definitely a free album, but all of the records are going to be original. With me getting older and seeing different parts of the world, my content is always going to be evolving, so this is going to be the peak of Rockie Fresh. Out of all of the stuff that I’ve done, I think this is going to be my best work and I’m really looking forward to dropping it.” (RapFix)

Rockie also recently discussed how his sound separates itself from his peers.

“I lived in diverse setting, so that made my music become more relateable to different kinds of people,” said Rockie. “I don’t feel binded [sic] to make one sound of music. I feel like from my very first release all the way to my latest relase I’ve shown a lot of diversity in my music, so people just kind of expect that from me. It gives me a wide range of things that I can do.” (HHW)

The signing comes just weeks after Ricky Rozay and MMG dropped their new Self Made, Vol. 2 compilation.

Miami rapper Rick Ross and Maybach Music Group’s Self Made, Vol. 2 dropped eight slots to No. 12 with 35,100. With two weeks under their belt, the MMG team’s sophomore effort has sold 132,800 records. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
