Maybach Music Group’s Rick Ross is on the road to recovery but he’s not letting his condition stop him from rallying support for jailed protégé Meek Mill. Yung Renzel went to social media to keep screaming for the rap star’s freedom.
On Wednesday, Ross jumped on Instagram to share a story about a Meek arresting officer having ties to Philadelphia’s District Attorney’s list of corrupt cops.
This week, a report emerged about various officers including Reginald Graham on a list of alleged corruption.
Note: Graham’s testimony was central to the arrest of Meek Mill more than a decade ago — a case that has since landed the rapper back in prison due to probation violations. Mill’s attorneys recently filed a motion accusing Graham of lying under oath to secure Mill’s arrest. (Philly)
Mill is expected to appear in court next month to address his 2-4-year jail sentence.
PhillyVoice.com reports that the same judge who sentenced Mill to prison time has now set a post-conviction hearing for Mill’s lawyers to file an appeal to overturn his conviction. Philly.com reports that Mill’s lawyers are urging Judge Genece Brinkley to overturn the conviction based on contradictions between sworn testimony and the account of the arresting officer. (Fox 29)
Recently, Meek’s attorney Joe Tacopina reacted to a major revelation about the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office having a secret list of suspected corrupt cops.
“When you’re in the justice system and you have the power of the district attorney’s office, you have to present all the evidence: good, bad or indifferent. You can’t hide the [proof] and prevent defense lawyers from understanding that perhaps the officer that was the linchpin to your client’s case is somehow corrupt.” (HNHH)
