Check out what other rappers changed their names…
According to reports, rapper Lil Boosie recently changed his hip-hop alias.
Lil Boosie is out of prison after more than five years behind bars, and now he’s got a new rap name to go along with all that newfound freedom. On two of his most recent appearances—”Beez Like” off Jeezy’s Seen It All and “Jet Fuel” from T.I.’s “Paperwork”—the Baton Rouge MC has been credited in the liner notes as Boosie Badazz rather than his original name Lil Boosie. Today a rep for the rapper confirmed that the liner notes weren’t an accident, and that they reflected an official name change for him. (XXL Mag)
Over the summer, Bow Wow addressed a decision to change his rap moniker to Shad Moss.
“It’s a name that they heard my whole career,” he told Rap-Up TV at the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. “To me, it wasn’t really that big of a deal. I was laughing at the reaction that everybody was making it the biggest news in the world. It was just hilarious ’cause I was like, ‘Sh*t. I’m just using my normal name.'” (Rap-Up)
A few months ago, reports claimed rap star Diddy switched back to his old moniker “Puff Daddy.”
Sean Combs is a man of many names. He’s been Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy and just plain ol’ Diddy. But he’s now decided to go back to his ’90s roots and become Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs once again. The name change comes in honor of his first album in four years, MMM, which does not have a release date as of yet. In a teaser clip for his latest single “Big Homie,” which will officially drop next Monday (March 31), Puff Daddy makes his triumphant return with a little help from Rick Ross and French Montana, who recently proclaimed that he’ll be executive producing MMM with a recording studio clip posted on Instagram.
