Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross made sure to put some respect on Prodigy’s name at this past weekend’s Billboard Hot 100 Festival. The biggest bawwwse came through for the late Mobb Deep co-founder during one of his sets.

According to reports, Yung Renzel remembered both Prodigy and Linkin Park member Chester Bennington Saturday (August 19) night.

Rozay didn’t address the crowd much, but he knew how to conduct a somber moment. Towards the end of the hour-long set, he tipped his hat to Prodigy and let his DJ blast a little bit of Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones, Pt. II.” Right after, he shouted out Linkin Park’s recently deceased vocalist Chester Bennington while “Numb” blared over the speakers. (Billboard)

In early August, an official cause of death surfaced for Prodigy.

The Clark County Medical Examiner has made the determination after completing its investigation into Prodigy’s June 20 death. As TMZ first reported, he was in a Las Vegas hospital when he choked on an egg. Prodigy was in the hospital getting treatment for sickle cell anemia — which he’d battled his entire life, and had flared up immediately following a performance in severe Las Vegas heat. (TMZ)

Last month, New York rapper Pete Rock shared a vintage Mobb Deep pic.

In early July, Havoc treated fans to a throwback Prodigy pic.
