G-Unit head 50 Cent is going to have to gear up for a publicized sex tape trial involving rap rival Rick Ross‘ ex-girlfriend Lastonia Leviston to continue next week.

According to reports, a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge ruled Friday (July 17) for the case to continue despite Fif publicly filing for bankruptcy earlier in the week.

Friday’s hearing before U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Ann M. Nevins in Hartford was at the request of Leviston’s lawyers, who wanted the punitive damages portion of the civil trial to continue. The jury that heard the sex-tape case will now consider punitive damages Monday. (Hartford Courant)

Leviston’s attorney has already reacted to the big ruling in his client’s favor.

“We’re very happy to be back in court Monday so the jury can finish its work on this case,” said Philip Freidin, Leviston’s lawyer. “Once more, we have overcome another delay to finally get back to Lastonia Leviston’s pursuit of justice against Mr. Curtis Jackson III.” (Hartford Courant)

Earlier this week, Leviston filed a motion to request a bankruptcy court in Connecticut for relief to avoid an automatic stay, which would have delayed her big payday from 50.

The motion accuses the rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson III, of filing for Chapter 11 protection to evade testifying earlier in the day in the New York civil case, where a jury was to consider punitive damages. That jury ruled Friday that Jackson must pay Leviston after releasing without her permission a sexually explicit video she made with her boyfriend. (AP)

Fif lost his publicized x-rated case with Leviston last week.

The jurors — 4 women, 2 men — deliberated for just over an hour before awarding Lavonia Leviston $2.5 million in damages for using her image without her permission … and another $2.5 mil for intentional infliction of emotional distress. Leviston’s lawyers argued that the rapper had leaked the tape online as a ploy for publicity, and to diss Ricky Rozay. Fifty never showed up during the trial or even for the verdict. Next week, the jury will decide on punitive damages … so Fifty’s tab could go way up. (TMZ)

  1. A part of me feels that if his bankruptcy wasn’t so public and people weren’t biggin up his “move”, the court would’ve probably been more sympathetic…

  2. Dumb nigga should have stayed off the TV with that shit he did do a interview explaining why he filed
