Rick Ross Crowns Himself “King” Boss, “She Dated Slim Thug, But Now She F*ck With Me” [Audio]

Southern rapper Rick Ross has crowned himself the biggest boss in the rap game on a new track called "King Boss."

On the track, Ross takes a swipe at Texas rapper Slim Thug, who also calls hims a “Boss Hogg.”

“I be in it for a minute,” Ross raps referring to a female companion. “She dated Slim Thug, but now she f*ck with me/She finally made it to the biggest boss, luckily/Rick Ross, see my life dog, similar to Phife Dawg‘s…” (“King Boss”)

Despite not being featured on his new Teflon Don album, the “Boss” has been able to continue selling units within the Top 20.

Def Jam juggernaut Rick Ross’ Teflon Don fell from Top 10 this week moving four slots to No. 11 with 23,700. With five weeks under his belt, the rapper’s new solo album has shelled out 332,000 records. (SOHH Sales Wrap)

After debuting at No. 2 with 308,400 units sold, Ross recently shared his post-release first-week numbers reaction.

“I’ve been promoting Teflon Don, we been on the road, it’s the biggest album of the year,” Ross told radio host DJ Envy. “You need to go get it. At the end of the day, it’s all about winning and we most definitely won. Just as a competitor and as an artist, I would never be satisfied with whatever the numbers would be. And that’s what I love about myself and what I love about the game of hip-hop.” (MTV)

Recently, Def Jam Senior Marketing VP Chris Atlas said the label fully backed Ross’ new album.

“We took the fact that he had so many people working with him on the record and captured it on film and video, which we are releasing around the Web,” Atlas says. “Rick has been working nonstop since the last record feeding stuff to his lifestyle and street base. He’s put out three or four mixtapes, and there is constant messaging to his core.” Atlas says Ross is on a 10-city promotional tour and making club and radio station appearances. Atlas adds that Ross is starting to work with brands, due in part to his recent co-management deal with Sean “Diddy” Combs. “We’re opening him up to working with brands,” Atlas says. “He did some smaller stuff before, and he’s been doing some things with Ciroc [a vodka brand Combs endorses]. But now he’s starting to attract attention from some bigger names. For instance, he’s using the nickname ‘Ricky Rozay,’ so some champagne brands are expressing a desire to do something.” (Billboard)
