Rich Gang‘s Rich Homie Quan has stepped forward and provided context into why he went silent during his performance of late rap icon Notorious B.I.G.‘s “Get Money” verse at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors ceremony.

Quan went to Instagram Tuesday (July 12) and fully accepted responsibility for his now-infamous incident.

New York rapper Joey Bada$$ ripped Quan following the Monday (July 11) night televised drama.

Quan came out during B.I.G. protégé Lil’ Kim‘s “Get Money” VH1 Hip Hop Honors set and managed to get a few lyrics in before going radio silent.

Quan knew about four words before he just — stopped. And though Kim tried to step in and save him from his massive screw up, the damage was already done. RHQ looked foolish, dancing around stage in Timberlands and a Coogi sweater while VH1 cut to dismayed crowd reaction shots. I don’t know how this decision was made, or how many people turned down the opportunity before Rich Homie’s phone rang, but somebody is probably getting fired tomorrow. (Uproxx)

The incident sparked a few major reactions across social media.
