[With his new “Dopeman” single still buzzing across the Internet, Def Jam alumnus Redman talks to SOHH about his upcoming “Mud Face” album and what fans can expect from him.]

The “Whut Thee Album” Redman was much younger, this “Mud Face” album, Redman is more mature.

I’m always going to talk about that bullsh*t, I’m always going to give you that run down on how the hood move or how I move, it’s my perspective of life.

My style is more developed. It’s more clearer to the air. It’s different from how I came back from the 90s to like I said, how I choose beats now, what I talk about, my approach, how I flow.

You can tell I advanced more, I learned a lot more. I mastered my craft to a point I can do this blindfolded.

You can see from listening to the album that it was easy, fun, I went against the grain, no producers gave me no new-sounding beats.

The only newer-sounding beat on that album is from Jahlil Beats. It has the high hat in there but it’s hard.

It’s something that Redman could rock to. It has those sounds of a new wave.

Between the now album and what I did in the 90s, what I can tell you is how I approach it may be a little different but the energy is still the same because all my songs were energy-motivated.

I was never inspired by the radio. I make my money from doing shows. I basically made songs just to do shows with and not for the radio.

So it’s the energy. The energy is still there.
