R&B singer Ray J has made it a habit to put himself in a scuffle every so often and the person he attacked heading into the weekend out in Los Angeles actually turned out to be hip-hop artist Bad Azz.

According to BA, the publicized incident stemmed from issues dating back to 2005.

“I probably seen him twice since about ’05 when he got me jumped by Suge Knight. A little while before that me and Ray J used to be friends — he was really cool with Suge. Really showed Suge my message. And me and Suge had been cool. We talked before that. So I guess that kinda pissed him off. When he saw me at the club in Vegas talking to Kurupt, I’m thinking me and Suge peaches and cream — he took me to the side and him and his homies put they hands on me.” (“The Breakfast Club”)

Initial reports suggested the fight really started because of some dicey comments he made toward a female clubgoer.

Ray J used another one of his appendages early this morning to take care of business … this time beating down a dude in a violent confrontation that started when Mr. J called a woman a “fat b*tch.” It went down at Club Nokia in downtown L.A. at 1 AM, after Mack 10 and Jamie Adler’s West Coast Fest concert. A woman goes nuclear on Ray J … an eyewitness tells TMZ Ray J hurled the insult at her and she just goes off, screaming, “You said f**k me fat bitch.” Ray J tries to calm her down, to no avail. (TMZ)

After the verbal altercation, Ray reportedly had his brief stint with Bad Azz.

She has a couple of great lines … “I’m the b*tch they wouldn’t go get to whup b*tches a**es,” and “I ain’t no fake-ass n**** from Portland.” It’s unclear how the fight started, but Ray J and some dude got at it, and it’s pretty clear … Ray beats the other guy’s ass. No one was arrested. (TMZ)

No stranger to brawls, Ray previously discussed attacking New York rapper Fabolous in September 2011.

“I’ma smack you up again, fool! ‘Ray J got beat up?’ I’ll sock that n*gga in the face, my n*gga,” Ray J told DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God. “All I’m saying is if you got Fab’s number, tell that n*gga to send you a picture of his face right now…I’m with the Money Team right now. I swear to God he’s running from me right now…[After I hit him,] he fell back because he’s a sucker — Fab ain’t no comedian. My homie saved his life when he was in L.A., so how dare you even speak disrespectful to me. So when I seen him, I was with Floyd [Mayweather] and 50 [Cent] and he tried to say ‘Don’t touch me’ and I [punched] that n*gga — If you disrespect me, don’t come to the West Coast. So he in Las Vegas and he tried to disrespect me?” (“The Breakfast Club”)
