R&B singer Ray J and Lil Kim made a direct call-out to Nicki Minaj during a New York concert last night (June 3) and requested the Young Money emcee to begin paying homage.
Ray began by taking a subliminal shot at Minaj after performing “Wait a Minute.”
Ray J took a moment to express his feelings on females in rap, primarily Nicki Minaj. “I’m seeing a lot of Lil Kim imposters,” Ray J stated. “I’m not saying no names, but you know who,” he continued, referencing biting Kim’s style after calling Kim the greatest female rapper ever. Lil Kim added, “We love her. We just want her to pay homage,” making an obvious reference to Minaj. “If you don’t pay homage then f*ck you,” she concluded. (Hip Hop DX)
Earlier this week, Kim also referenced Minaj at a Buffalo, New York concert.
During her performance Kim threw off her blonde wig saying she’s above this, while throwing her blonde wig into the crowd. LilKim is a legend, and LEGENDS don’t diss babies, she’s the Queen B for crying out loud. Honestly the last thing we need is beef between Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj. In the concert footage, Kim raps a verse from her “Crush On You” hit before tossing her wig out to the crowd.

Despite the tension, artists like Lloyd Banks have compared the two emcees due to their similarities.
“[Laughs] Sheesh. I would go with Nicki right now,” he said in an interview. “Yeah, I like her as an artist. We came up in the same era, we were around the same age so I’m pretty sure one of her influences was probably Lil Kim and nothing is really reminding of the impact Kim had, since Nicki came. To have a concert and have a hundred Nickies in the front row… not too many new artists come and have a following like that. So you definitely have to acknowledge that.” (VIBE)
