Barring any delays, the seemingly overnight EP will arrive on May 5.

Consisting of five brand new, original tracks, the EP will be a return to the hardcore, streetflavored rap that made 2 Chainz one of the most beloved figures in all of hip hop. Additionally, as the EP is fan oriented, 2 Chainz tapped his talented fan base for the album artwork. Utilizing his devout social media following, 2 Chainz encouraged fans to submit their suggested artwork for the Freebase cover via Instagram, with the #freebase hashtag. The winning design features a rare photo of famous stand-up comedian and actor Richard Pryor reclining on a bed, wearing two chain necklaces. (Press Release)

Deuce also issued a statement about his new Freebase project.

“It has been a minute since the release of my album B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time and I wanted to give something special to my fans while I record my follow up album. This is a taste of what is to come, and is most importantly, for them.” (Statement)

Despite working with handfuls of stars including Kanye West and Lil Wayne, the artist formerly known as “Tity Boi” recently talked about one elusive collaboration he wanted.

“It’s probably no secret that I wouldn’t mind getting in with Hov,” Chainz said when asked who he would like to collaborate with in the future. “I think it would be kind of cool.” (Complex)

In February, Chainz announced plans to put together a new album.

“Workin on B.O.A.T.S III,” Chainz tweeted February 4. (2 Chainz’s Twitter)
