Fresh off appearing on ESPN's First Take daily sports show, Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz has defended his decision to lace controversial co-host Skip Bayless with a diamond encrusted gold chain.

In 2 Chainz’s perspective, he had no choice but to help Skip enhance his on-screen attire.

“Y’all probably missed it but I officially gave Skip swag,” Chainz said in behind-the-scenes footage from ‘First Take.’ “See his suit? Looks like he got it out of Scarface’s closet. … I thought, ‘You should have this.’ Since he’s always talking about LeBron [James], this is something you should wear in Miami. This is a Miami piece. It can hold the keys to his Porsche on the other side of it. [laughs]” (ESPN, First Take)

Along with lacing Skip with a chain, the buzzing rapper also talked about the NBA Western Conference Finals during Monday’s broadcast.

Following fellow rappers like Lil Wayne and Joe Budden, the ATL’s 2 Chainz has now joined the ever-entertaining Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith on ESPN2’s morning show First Take. In addition to promoting his forthcoming Based on a T.R.U. Story album (out August 14), the artist formerly known as Tity Boi chimed in with some of his thoughts on Kevin Durant‘s performance in this year’s Spurs-Thunder Western Conference Finals. Also, how great is it that Bayless threw that chain on? (Prefix Mag)

First Take is notorious for featuring a wide variety of hip-hop artists on its shows.

2 Chainz wisely chose Durant and even let Skip throw on one of his chains and declared, “That’s swag”. We could debate on whether or not Skip has swag but I would rather focus on the recent trend of rappers on First Take. With his appearance today 2 Chainz joined the list of First Take hip hop alumnus that includes Lil Wayne, Wale, Fabolous, Nelly, Common, Joe Budden, and more. I love to see these guys talking sports and taking a step outside their comfort zone. Be sure to check out First Take every weekday at 10 am on ESPN 2 and look for 2 Chainz “Based On A T.R.U Story” this August. Does Skip have swag? Let us know in the comment section below. Enjoy. (Stupid Dope)

Known for speaking out, Bayless publicly challenged G-Unit’s 50 Cent to appear on his show last January.

“Yesterday @50cent called me out. Funny, I’ve invited him numerous times to come in studio, take me on. Always has an excuse. Another Floyd.,” he tweeted January 21st.

“So @50cent thinks he’s in good shape? He isn’t in my league (strength or endurance). I’ll prove it to him if he dares. I’m 5-10, 175 lbs.” (Skip Bayless’ Twitter)
