Grammy-winning singer R. Kelly has released a new video thanking fans for their continued support after having emergency throat surgery performed last month in Chicago.
In the video, Kelly is seen wearing dark shades and a surgical mask.
“Yo what’s everybody, it’s your boy Kells, fresh from the hospital. I just want to say thanks to all the prayer warriors out there for supporting me, praying for me,” Kells said in the video. “The doctor said the surgery went well. I know it may not look like it, but it did. I want y’all to continue to pray for me, be strong out there. I will be back. I know it’s a lot of negativity out there, please don’t believe the hype. God is good all the time. When I get a chance, I’m going back into the studio and working on my next album.” (R. Kelly King of R&B)
The singer was officially discharged from a Chicago hospital in late July.

A day prior, Kells hit up Twitter to thank fans for their support.
“I’d like to thank everybody for their love, concern and support. I WILL BE BACK!,” he tweeted July 20th. (R. Kelly’s Twitter)
A few weeks ago, R&B singer Verse Simmonds gave SOHH his reaction to Kells’ medical situation.
“That’s crazy because you’re the first person that’s telling me about that, I didn’t even hear,” Verse told SOHH slightly in shock when informed about Kells’ throat complications. “I hadn’t even heard about that. That’s crazy. I really hope he gets well. His throat and voice, that’s what’s been making him a legend all this time. So I really hope he gets that checked out and gets that fixed.” (SOHH)
