Kells said one key to keeping R&B alive is for artists to work alongside, not against, one another.

“I feel there’s a lot of talented guys out there when it comes to R&B, and what I urge guys out there to do, that’s coming up under me, [aiming for] longevity, is to stay away from beef,” R. Kelly told MTV News. “Stay away from beef, stay true and respectful to music and to the ones that inspired you to do what you do.” “I think that’s going to be the key to having longevity and it’s also going to be the key to keeping R&B alive,” Kelly said of avoiding conflict between singers. “You don’t want R&B singers to get into beef. Leave that to the rappers, let them do that — R&B, be classy. That’s for the ladies and having babies and having fun.” (MTV)

A recent dispute between musicians Drake and Chris Brown has resulted in a promoter putting together a look-a-like celebrity fight based on them.

Although Chris Brown told RumorFix “Yeah, I would, I would” when asked if he would box Drake, there will be no fight between the pretty boy bad boys. But RumorFix has learned exclusively that promoter Damon Feldman will not disappoint fans, so he’s signed some look-a-likes to step in. The boxing promoter, who had offered the hip hop stars $5 million each to get in the ring, found celebrity doubles who are also avid fans. They will duke it out September 22 in Los Angeles. Last March, R&B stars The-Dream and The Weeknd took swipes at each other.

“ham burglar lookin’ a** n*gga… all i need are my brothers and my fans… f*ck the bullsh*t. just gimme that gat d&mn allderdice god d*mm it! i’m too turnt up right now!! this n*gga is so hood, he thinks my name is the weekender…i was raised old fashioned, you get at me, i get at you… ain’t no sideways sh*t about it…” (The Weeknd’s Twitter)

Back in 2009, R. Kelly shared his reaction to fellow singer Trey Songz getting at him on the “Death of Kells” diss track.

“When you’re a king…I don’t get into the challenges anymore,” Kells told a panel of journalists. “What is an elephant gonna do when an ant or a fly lands on them? Those guys got some growing up to do. That’s something I would have answered 20 years ago.” (SOHH On The Scene)
