G.O.O.D. Music's Pusha T has confirmed the likelihood of his crew's highly-anticipated Cruel Winter compilation dropping is slim to none and explained why team effort is not enough.

Despite contributions from Cyhi the Prynce, Big Sean, Kid Cudi and Q-Tip, Pusha said Kanye West‘s emphasis on quality sidelined the LP.

“I can tell you right now, I probably have 15 verses that are just over beats, that are lying around wherever ‘Ye and his hard drive is right now,” he said. “And I’m sure Cyhi, Sean, Cudi, Tip, everybody has other production or verses on these records as well.” It’s no secret that Kanye is very guarded about his studio work and it is with reason, Push says. “I think ‘Ye really tries to keep the brand, keep it up to a certain standard and piecing together a record like that, it’s just not gonna work,” he said. Earlier this month, G.O.O.D. Music’s Common crushed fans’ hopes when he said the LP will likely never drop.

Does G.O.O.D. Music really have a Cruel Winter album coming? Oh, yeah, nah, nah. I don’t think that’s happening. It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody’s been doing their solo album. So that’s what that is. (Vulture)

In December, Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon revealed his interest in hopping on the compilation project.

“Um, you know, Kanye, them is my guys,” Rae said when asked if he will appear on Cruel Winter. “If he was to call me in to do some things, it’s gonna happen. You know what I mean? I’m a big fan of the movement. They’ve been doing a lot of great things, so, when they call a fella like me in, they know what I get ready to do. So Cruel Winter, Cruel Spring, [laughs], all that, put me down so I can throw my voice on it, you know what I mean?” (HHNM)

Back in October, the clique’s rap veteran Q-Tip accidentally spilled the beans on the star-studded follow-up to last year’s Cruel Summer.

“We’re just trying to do some next ‘ish, you know what I’m saying?,” Tip said in an interview when asked about working with Kanye West. “Look out for the Pusha T album, the Big Sean album’s coming up next. [Can you expect me on Cruel Winter?] Oh yeah, for sure. I can’t really, [laughs], let out too much details about it but yeah, I’ll be on it. Kanye had the plan for that, so look out.” (Hip Hop Since 1978)
