The Clipse's Pusha T has people scratching their heads this week after downplaying rumors and buzz about him hooking back up with estranged group member No Malice.
While he would not confirm or deny the reunion reports, Pusha did say he would love to make music with his brother.
“I never leaked anything about the Clipse. I didn’t do that. Nope. All I did was tell everybody I was in the studio for 20 days with Pharrell and Chad and then there was a leak that happened and then people found out that other people were down but I never said [anything]. I wouldn’t do that. I wouldn’t do that. I’m on my Pusha T right now. I don’t want to mislead nobody ‘but,’ we’re just working. [Collaborating with No Malice?] Oh, I would love for that. I love my brother. Yeah. [laughs]” (DJ Heat)
Over the weekend Pusha seemed to raise eyebrows with an indirect Facebook confirmation.
“It’s coming… http://bit.ly/1cJ56U2,” Pusha posted onto Facebook January 10 with a photo of himself and No Malice along with a link to an article about a Clipse reunion. (Pusha T’s Facebook)
Recently, No Malice revealed he was behind a Clipse reunion but only under his terms.
“My brother and I, we are taking two different approaches to music. I’m very proud of the Clipse catalog and I really enjoyed that music but most of all, it’s made me who I am today. That’s not the kind of music that I’m doing,” No Malice explained in an interview. “I still hold out hope for a Clipse reunion. I really believe that we will be able to do it, but any music that I make is totally 100 percent going to glorify God. That’s what I do. That’s what I’m about. Like I said, I’m still holding out hope that can happen.” (Pow TV Rap Show)
While information is very limited as of now, reports last week claimed a follow-up to 2009’s Til the Casket Drops was in the works.
Pusha T made news recently after posting pictures of The Neptunes in the studio to Instagram, sparking speculation of a soon-to-come sophomore album. However, it has been confirmed that the photos are evidence of the Clipse-comprised of brothers Pusha T and No Malice-hard at work on an untitled independent project, ending a three-year hiatus. (The hip-hop duo hasn’t released an album since 2009?s Til the Casket Drops.) Both MCs have since gone on to work on solo projects for the time being, but it looks as if they’re coming back together for a much-anticipated LP with the help of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo.
