White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest issued a statement Tuesday (September 9).

“The President is the father of two daughters. And like any American, he believes that domestic violence is contemptible and unacceptable in a civilized society. Hitting a woman is not something a real man does, and that’s true whether or not an act of violence happens in the public eye, or, far too often, behind closed doors. Stopping domestic violence is something that’s bigger than football – and all of us have a responsibility to put a stop to it.” (Statement)

Ray Rice’s wife broke her silence on the fight footage in this open statement…

The suspended NFL player’s wife Janay Rice jumped onto her Instagram page Tuesday morning to address the drama.

“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret everyday is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his a** off for all his life just to gain ratings is a horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love!,” Mrs. Rice wrote September 9. (Janay Palmer-Rice’s Instagram)

The NFL may have reportedly turned a blind eye to seeing the footage earlier this year.

Commissioner Rodger Goodell made his disciplinary decision in the dark, which raises the question … Is that the way he wanted it? Sources connected with the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City tell TMZ Sports … NO ONE from the NFL ever asked for the video inside the elevator … video that was compelling enough to get Rice instantly fired.  (TMZ)

Details of the Baltimore Ravens’ decision to release Rice surfaced yesterday (September 8) afternoon.

Ray Rice won’t get another chance with the Baltimore Ravens after all. He might not get a chance anywhere else in the NFL either. The Ravens announced they’ve terminated Rice’s contract Monday afternoon, hours after TMZ.com posted video of the embattled running back punching his then-fiancée during an altercation at an Atlantic City hotel in February. 1. I agree Mr. President but do you have to share your opinion on every fucking thing? What makes this case more important to speak on than any other cases of domestic violence. Just fix the economy. Less filling out brackets and appearing on talk shows and more doing your job!

  2. Obama is the last person who should be talking about what constitutes a real man (afraid to address the Black community, tackle white privilege, combat white supremacy and institutionalized racism).

  3. tell that to Ike Turner. He has many greatest hits. And why is the president concerned about this when the economy needs jobs, ISIS is crazy, people stomach messed up, black deaths in Chicago is high, police shootings is at an all time high.

  4. This is coming from a president that’s allowing our troops to invade other countries to kill their men, women and children… but can’t hit a female though

  5. Your the Commander and Chief of a Military that murdered innocent women and children by way of sanction Drone air strikes… FYM! ::>_<::

  6. A real man does not send 18 year old kids to fight their war.
A real man does not sit in a protected office while those that call him leader suffer.
Lastly a real man does not send planes to drop bombs on enemy’s miss and kill hundreds of innocent people

  7. I’m about to start a charity called “Slap a Woman Challenge” To raise awareness for all the Men that were raped out of their livelihood’s after smacking a ho
