“Power” star Joseph Sikora isn’t turning a blind eye to the Drake and Pusha-T rap battle and neither is his on-screen character Tommy Egan. Everyone’s favorite bad boy has chopped it up with SOHH about the biggest feud going on in hip-hop.
Although Sikora believes Tommy would lean more toward one side, the Starz heavyweight told SOHH he’s a fan of what both Drizzy and King Push are doing for the culture.
“Tommy would lean toward Pusha-T in the feud. I think. Just lyrically Pusha’s bringing it. As Joseph, I can’t see Drake coming up with something in response that’s going to be a career-ender for Pusha. Pusha’s been on-point. With people saying, ‘These guys are going for each other. They’re gunning,’ I think there’s something to be said about a classic rivalry battle going on that actually puts people to the next level and challenges people and I kind of applaud both of them for being real emcees. I’m enjoying watching it from the sidelines.” (SOHH)
Last week, Pusha-T announced the short-lived rap feud had come to an abrupt stop.
“I don’t even know. I don’t know what was lost or what was gained,” Pusha said when asked what fans are supposed to have learned from the rap battle. “These conversations have been had and, to my knowledge, it’s all over. It’s all over with. … These conversations have been had and, to my knowledge, it’s all over. It’s all over with.” (Vanity Fair)
Recently, hip-hop mogul Diddy admitted Drake took the L in the rap battle for not responding to Pusha’s latest diss song.
“I think you gotta listen to your OGs because it ain’t worth it. But as far as in a battle, if he didn’t respond, he took the L. I said he took the L because he didn’t respond and I said he should have listened, he should listen to J. Prince because I was in that same position with ‘Hit ‘Em Up.’ I told Big not to respond. So I can understand. What Big had written for them, it was going to get as bad as it got. It’s an L because we know there’s guidelines and rules. You have 48 hours to respond. Pusha-T almost took an L but it was Memorial Day Weekend and he came back on Tuesday.” (“The Breakfast Club”)
The same week, a pic surfaced of Drake coming out to attend a private birthday celebration.
