Details of the rap veteran’s release surfaced online Thursday (March 13).

Rapper Petey Pablo — the rapper behind the mega-hits “Raise Up” and “Freek-a-Leek” — has been RELEASED FROM PRISON … after doing 2 years for gun-smuggling … TMZ has learned. Petey was arrested at Raleigh Durham Airport on SEPTEMBER 11, 2010 … after cops say he tried to take a stolen gun through airport security. Pablo was sentenced to 35 months behind bars at a federal prison … but was released today, 4 months ahead of schedule. (TMZ)

Despite the hefty bid, Pablo said he is ready for a music comeback.

Pablo now says he wants to return to hip-hop … and has already hooked up with Timbaland. “I’m now headed to the work shop,” Pablo says … “To begin what will be noted as my best work ever with one of the greatest producers of all time.” “See ya in a few, shirt still spinning!” (TMZ)

The North Carolina native received his 35-month bid in February 2012.

Pablo was arrested Sept. 11, 2010, after he was found to have a gun in his carry-on luggage at a security check at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The hip hop artist was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and attempting to take a gun onto an aircraft. With a guilty plea for the stolen firearm charge, he was sentenced to 35 months in jail, and the other two charges were dropped. (NY Daily News)

The “Raise Up” rapper was arrested on a gun possession charge back in 2010.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin says 37-year-old Petey Pablo — whose real name is Moses Barrett III — was arrested Saturday (September 11) morning. He is charged with being a felon with a gun and carrying a concealed, stolen weapon. Hamlin says Transportation Security Administration agents found a gun in the rapper’s carry-on luggage.
