[With the new Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension movie coming out on Digital HD/On Demand this week, director Jason Blum talks to SOHH about the franchise’s impact on pop culture and its lasting legacy.]

It’s really exciting to take something so small and have it grow to something that has become such a big thing.

It’s not only here but it’s become a big thing overseas. The last few movie have actually done better internationally than they have domestically.

I feel like “Paranormal Activity” began to swing away from graphic horror like “Saw” to supernatural horror like “Insidious” or “The Conjuring” or “Annabelle.”

I sort of feel like “Paranormal Activity” sort of changed that trend and I’m sure it will swing back. It’s gone back and forth since the beginning of scary movies but I think “Paranormal Activity” is really responsible for that which is really cool.

I’m very proud to be associated with it.

I’m staying in scary movie land. We’re shooting “The Purge 3” right now in Rhode Island and “Ouija 2” in Los Angeles and we have other franchises that we are kind of at the beginning of.

So our focus is going to go to other scary things like movies, TV and a haunted house in Argentina. We’re continuing in scary but closing the “Paranormal Activity” chapter.
